Scope of work
Project Objective
The textile industry commonly discharges treated effluent to a farmland and uses it for irrigation, farmer adjacent to the plan raised concerns about its impact on soil health, plant growth, and groundwater quality. IITM and Stratus was engaged to evaluate these effects.
Sampling & Analysis
In collaboration with IIT Madras, soil borings and effluent samples were collected and analysed for metals, dye compounds, and other pollutants. The study aimed to identify long-term risks to agriculture and water resources.
Findings & Recommendations
The assessment determined that certain effluent components exceeded safe limits, requiring improved treatment methods before reuse. Recommendations were provided to the facility for compliance improvements.
