Stratus Environmental is a full-service international environmental engineering and consulting firm that combines a tradition of integrity, innovation, and excellence. Established in 2014, Stratus began its operations in Chennai, India.

In 2014, Stratus had the opportunity to work with IIT Madras (IITM) and Bharat Petroleum Company Ltd (BPCL) to identify and address their environmental needs in the city of Tondiarpet, Chennai.  Of primary concern was the sheer extent of impact to soil and groundwater that was causing residents to rely on alternate sources for water. With years of experience performing contaminated environmental site clean-ups, Stratus was awarded the contract under the supervision of IITM and the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. Specialized equipment was customized by our technicians and engineers in the US and shipped to India for the use of assessment, monitoring and remediation of the site.

After 5 years of concentrated efforts, we are proud to say that we have been able to address the problem by greatly reducing the contamination in the area. To-date we continue our project activities providing top quality, sustainable and cost-efficient service at the site and have applied this level of support to many other environmentally challenging sites throughout India.
